Estimating Loan Payments

The EdWise - Student Loan Calculator  is an excellent tool to estimate the size and length of expected loan payments for student or parent loans .  Using the link above, when you are at the EdWise site go to the "Getting Started" button at the top of the page.  On the next page you will see the "Section" buttons listed at the top of this page. Go to "Section 4".

  • Section 4 - Loan Repayment contains the calculators which can be used to predict the approximate size of payments for any type of loan.

    • Most Stafford loans are repaid under Standard Repayment.

    • For calculating PLUS loan payments, use the Standard Repayment calculator and use 120 months for Number of Payments.

Remember whether a student or parent loan, the minimum payment is usually $50 per month and the maximum number of payments is 120 months/10 years.
