Undergraduate Grants

  • Grant Programs are considered "gift" assistance. 

  • Awards go to the students with the highest demonstrated need. 

  • Grants do not have to be repaid.  

  • Students may receive grants from federal, state or institutional funds.

Federal Pell Grant  Available to undergraduates pursuing their first undergraduate degree and not enrolled in a professional program. Awards range from $200 to $4,050 12 or more credits Eligible for full award

Designed to assist undergraduate students with the highest level of need. Awards range from $200 up to $4,000 12 or more credits
Academic Competitiveness Grant Year 1 (ACG) Available to freshman pursuing their first undergraduate degree (not enrolled in a professional program) Up to $750 for one academic year only. 12 or more credits
Academic Competitiveness Grant Year 2 (ACG) Available to sophomores pursuing their first undergraduate degree (not enrolled in a professional program) Up to $1300 for one academic year only. 12 or more credits
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant Available to juniors and seniors majoring in an eligible field of study with a 3.0 GPA who are receiving Pell Grant funds. Up to $4000 per academic year. SMART grants can only be received for one year as a junior and one year as a senior. 12 or more credits
TEACH Grant  Available to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate students who intend to teach in schools that serve students from low-income families.
A unique feature of this grant is that it will convert to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan if the Service Agreement conditions of the grant are not met.

Available for high-need Washington residents pursuing their first undergraduate degree.

Educational Opportunity Grant (EOG) Designed to assist financially needy placebound Washington residents who are juniors and transferring to an eligible institution to finish their bachelor's degree $2,500

12 or more credits

Tuition Waiver Designed to assist undergraduate Washington residents.  Awards are based on financial need and will only be applied to tuition charges. Up to cost of tuition

12 or more credits

Institutional Grants Designed by WSU to assist undergraduate Washington residents who have high financial need or special circumstances. varies 12 or more credits
